Final Fantasy 7 Done. Gotta buy Final Fantasy 8! (Day 280)

Holy crap have I been putting this off. I finished Final Fantasy 7 back at the end of July, but I haven't bought Final Fantasy 8 yet. I've found it on eBay for less then 10 bucks, but I've just been putting it off. I think I'll just buy 8 and 9 at the same time, and beat the two in quick succession. I'll be MIA for 13 days in December, so taking that out of the equitation that leaves me 72 days to finish 8, 9, 10, 12, and 13. That's a Final Fantasy game being beat every 14 days. It's going to be tight, but doable!

My Next challenge is going to be beating all the Dragon Warriors in a year. That is....if I can finish this one...

Final Fantasy 6 Done. Onto Final Fantasy 7 (Day 169)

Reluctantly finished Final Fantasy 6 a few days ago. Rolled through Kefka's tower easily enough. Had Sabin, Edgar and Celes up to 99, Shadow, Mog and Cyan in the 70s area and just had 3 groups of 2 go in. Everyone had Genji gloves, Edgar has the Ultimate Weapon with X-Fight. Pretty much game over at that point.

Ordered Final Fantasy 7 off ebay. Found a copy for only 31 bucks which was within my price range. Doesn't come with the case or anything, it's just 3 CDs. However, it turns out the 3rd disc was cracked, so I had to request another copy of that disc, should be here tomorrow sometime allowing me to get started this coming weekend.

Going to try and bang out Final Fantasy 7 real quick which should put me back on a nice track to complete all 12 games by January. Hopefully I can cruise through Final Fantasy 8 as well. I'm expecting 12 and 13 to take the most amount of time.

I'm also contemplating doing a Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest) 365 day challenge next year. I already own the first 4 on NES and the release of the others on DS makes it a feasible goal...

I'll post some completion stats from Final Fantasy 6 when I get some time...

Annnd I'm Back (Day 155)

I've been far to distracted by newer games, mainly Red Dead Redemption and an old MUD style game I've played forever to log much time in Final Fantasy 6. I'm pretty much done with the game, just working a few guys up for the final battle. Edgar, Celes are now level 99 and I'm getting Sabin and Mog to the same point and i"m just gonna roll Kefka's tower. I've been delaying as I have not yet purchased a copy of Final Fantasy 7. Going to spend some time today looking for a copy, though it's tough to find one in my price range of 30 bucks. So once Final Fantasy 7 is in hand, I'll finish of Final Fantasy 6 and stop Final Fantasy 7.

I knew I'd get stuck on Final Fantasy 6, not because it's hard, but because I never want to beat it. I've played through it so many times, it's just more fun to delay it and beat it worse then the time before.

Final Fantasy 7 is a different story. I love Final Fantasy 7, but I've only be it once as I broke/lost my original copy. I'm very much looking forward to playing this one again.

Final Fantasy 5 All Done (Day 110)

Finished Final Fantasy 5...credits are rolling as I type. Game is crazy hard. Very fun though. I ended up just mastering Hunter on two characters to get RapidFire (X-Fight) and RedMage to get DuelCast (X-Magic) on the other two. Just went Freelance, assigned Duel Wield and RapidFire with the 4 best legendary weapons on Butz and Feris giving them 8 attacks and DuelCast with White magic and DuelCast with Summon and just Bahumaht-ed all day with the other two. Piece of cake.

Once the credits finish, I'm gonna start Final Fantasy 6...w00t.

Still On Final Fantasy 5 (Day 95)

No motivation. That describes the status of the challenge. It's been a while since I put some real time into playing Final Fantasy 5. I've had the time, just not the desire. I've been wrapped up in NHL 10 again with the Playoffs going and all. I'm currently 3 crystals in and I still have Galuf. I don't even think that's halfway... Don't know where the fire went, but I'm going to force myself to play for a few hours today. 95 days in, wedding approaching and the longer games still to come. Good times....

Final Fantasy 5 and The Case Of The eBay Rip Off (Day 69)

So it turns out that the Final Fantasy 5 and 6 on GBA for $12 off eBay deal did not work out as well as I'd hoped. I went to get started on Final Fantasy 5 about a week ago and it turns out it doesn't save. Just tell me the file is corrupt on the normal and quicksave. Very lame. Final Fantasy 6 appears to work without issue, so $12 for Final Fantasy 6 on GBA is still a pretty good deal.

I ended up finding another copy of Final Fantasy 5 on GBA on eBay for 23 bucks with shipping. Game came with the case and manual too. Game works fine and came fast. Item looked a lot less shady on eBay too.

Started playing 5 2 days ago. It does look very nice on the GBA. Translations are already much better and the battles feel smoother and much faster then on the emulated version and the Playstation 1 anthology version. Just finished the Water Crystal temple place, so I just got my second set of jobs including one of my favorites, Mystic Knight. Essentially a Knight job that can add elemental damage to their weapon. Pretty bitchin, awesome for bosses.

Still trying to get around to putting the end game statistics up for the other games I've beat. I've just been to distracted/lazy to actually get it done...

Other then getting started on Final Fantasy 5, all is quiet. I've seen several reviews and have heard mixed things about Final Fantasy 13 and unfortunately, I'm in no hurry to pick it up. Maybe I'll give it a try in a month or so...

Final Fantasy 4 downed. Moving on to Final Fantasy 5! (Day 57)

Beat Final Fantasy 4 today and I'm kinda sad to see it go. I discovered that the DS version I was playing has a sort of New Game + . Unfortunately, it's an abbreviated version of it. You don't get to keep your levels or money or anything like that, but you keep your abilities. So nothing very exciting, but pretty neat.

The story n Final Fantasy 4 is awesome. I won't ruin the last battle for anyone who lives under a rock, but I'll just say it's an epic last battle. The ending scene is pretty neat, you get to revisit all the characters that are still living in the game, and they all come to Baron for the crowning of Cecil as king, good times.

After this game I've decided to add some end game statistics for all the games I beat. I've mentioned briefly in past games how much money/levels/time etc I logged on the game, but never put anything in official. I'll start putting them in the side bar from now on, starting with this one today.

As for Final Fantasy 5, gotta be honest, I'm pretty excited despite never having beat the game. This game is LONG and has a ridiculous boss count, somewhere around 120. I've come pretty close (I think) to beating it before, I've played enough to know the job system is done much better then in Final Fantasy 3 and that the storyline is 100 times better then 1, 2 or 3. Should be a good time. The version I played originally was on the PS1, part of one of the anthologies. I'm hoping the GBA version is an improvement on that as the PS1 version was poorly translated and had some slow loading between world map and menu screen that was very noticeable.
