FINALly Underway (Day 4)

I got every game I ordered yesterday. Final Fantasy 1 and 2 on PSP and Final Fantasy 5 and 6 on GBA. Surprisingly, despite the sketchiness of the ebay posting, the games work! In total, for 4 games I only had to pay 60 bucks, including shipping. Pretty good deal for the 4 games.

Anyway, I got through a lot of Final Fantasy 1 last night. I'm just about to enter the Waterfall Cavern to get the Water Crystal (3rd of 4). I've become lazy in my later years as I've almost reached for a walkthrough a few times already. First, I forgot where the Earth Cavern (where you find the 1st crystal, the Earth Crystal) was. Rather then grabbing a walkthrough, I did what you're supposed to do, talk to the towns people. Took a bit, but I finally found someone to talk to that didn't have something useless or incredible vague to say. I got stuck again when I was trying to figure out how to get to the Waterfall Cavern. I knew I needed to grab some fairy and bring it back to some spring somewhere and get the Oxyale. After talking to a few people and flying to almost every town, I figured it out.

The one thing I gotta say about this is game is that the graphics are incredible. For a 2D game, the images are very crisp and a HUGE upgrade from the original (obviously). Take a look at the difference between

Tiamat (Wind Crystal boss) on NES...

And Tiamat on PSP...

So awesome. It really makes the game so much better.

I plan on trying to play as much as I can while I'm still on this Final Fantasy high in anticipation of the longer games to play through, Final Fantasy 5 namely.

Time to get back to work I suppose...
